Worm gears
In order to increase life cycle of worm gears and to improve their sliding and emergency running properties, the worm gears at Sauter Bachmann are manufactured from special centrifugally cast bronze. This ensures optimum material pairing between wheel and shaft. The centrifugal cast blanks are also purchased from well-known subcontractors. Depending on requirements, however, other materials are also used for the worm wheel, such as special brass or spheroidal graphite cast iron, which in turn is subjected to surface treatment after machining.
Machining options for worm gears
Worm gears with the following dimensions can be machined:
- up to a Ø of 1200 mm
- modul from 0.5 up to 12
- gearing quality according to ISO 1328 up to quality 6
Ground worm shafts
Sauter Bachmann also manufactures case-hardened, surface-hardened or gas-nitrided worm shafts with grinded tooth flanks in profile shapes E, A, N, K and H. Depending on requirements the surface quality can be further optimised after grinding.
Machining options for worm shafts
- worm shafts up to a length of 1300 mm (centre distance)
- length of gearing up to 1300 mm
- Ø of the gearing up to 350 mm
- angle of gradient up to 60°
- modul from 0.4 up to 16
- gearing quality according to ISO 1328 up to quality 4
Machining options for duplex worm shafts
- worm shafts up to a length of 1300 mm (centre distance)
- length of gearing up to 1200 mm
- Ø of the gearing up to 350 mm
