Hirth couplings
The Hirth toothing is an axially effective, planar-sided and self-centering coupling to transmit high torques and to position them repetitively within narrow tolerance limits. Hirth gear teeth are manufactured with a flank angle of 60° and variable diameters and numbers of teeth. Hirth gear teeth are used in many areas, for example in turbine engines or for indexing the indexing plates of rotary indexing tables in machine tools. This design is also self-centering.
Machining options of Hirth gear couplings
- ground Hirth couplings up to a Ø of 500 mm depending on workpiece dimensions up to a Ø of 800 mm
- milled Hirth couplings up to a Ø are 1000 mm
